I have MILDLY sensitive skin..at least I did before I tried the 3 step program which included the mild soap and the 2 clarifying lotion.

All seemed well with world for about a week…then all heck broke loose. I broke out in welts on my chin and nose….painful, dry and burning. I know it was due to the soap and toner.

The lady at the Clinique counter “convinced” me that I needed to stick with the soap and switched me to the mild toner.

The issue just compounded.

The soap is WAY too drying. This is the gimmick: you use the soap which supposedly “loosens the glue that holds dead skin cells to your face”.. HUH?? Then you use their toner (may as well use straight Vodka) to wipe away the loose cells. Then, after your face is totally in shock, you slap on moisturizer than never actually sinks into your skin; it just settles on top, leaving a waxy feel and shine. I may as well have taken a candle and rubbed it on my face! I warned everyone not to light a match near me; I may go up in flames from the alcohol or melt from the waxy buildup.

So I stopped using it all…..went to the doctor who INSISTED I use them again. So I did, this time getting the liquid version of the soap.

Within 2 days, I had a million itchy bumps on my forehead and the welts began to appear again. I also had dry itchy eyes. I ended up returning it all and switching to Perscriptives Comfort line. Now I TRUELY have sensitive skin because of these “allergy tested, dermatologist recommended” products.

Look at the ingredients…for one thing, Clinique does not list them online and are very reluctant to give out when you call….and I noticed that EVERY time I bought the products at Nordstroms, the Clinique ladies CONVENIENTLY put their receipt-free return label RIGHT OVER THE INGREDIENTS on the packaging!

Most people I know either never had good luck with the 3 step regime, or did at first, but not over time.

The wuality is not bad, but later I found this same lotion without alchohol. I would prefer the non alchohol one

I almost never write reviews, but I was so impressed with this lotion that I had to write. I just bought this a couple of weeks ago and haven’t been regularly using it until I run out of my other stuff (which doesn’t work at all). Anyway, I used the clarifying lotion this morning on my whole face including where I had some pimple bumps. I felt a tingle, but no burn or anything. By time I got to work, all of my pimples had turned into tiny red dots on my skin instead of bumps!! I used it with the liquid facial cleanser and dramatically different moisturizer. I’ll keep buying all three products!!! Wow!

This works good, but it’s a little too drying. I think that this would have been better without alcohol; witch hazel is a better option. There are a lot of natural astringents that have a better formulation than this.

But it didn’t make me break out and it’s fragrance free.

I would say it’s worth a try, but a better choice for women with oily complexions.

When I moved to Florida 5 years ago the climate completely changed my skin. I went from having little to no acne to having breakouts on my forehead, jaw and a lot of blackheads/whiteheads in my t-zone. I tried the 3 three step system hoping to clear up my new problem. The first time I used it it tingled and after I used the lotion my face was so soft. My acne cleared up substantially in a little over a week.

I really recommend this product, I’ve modified my plan to accommodate the climate here. I now use the oil free lotion and 7 day scrub 3 times a week. I use the scrub frequently because you really need it down here, in the summer months your face can get sweaty and oily just walking to the car.

Here are my tips, that I’ve tried and found work really well.

If it seems too strong or burns your skin go down down to level 1.

If it is not effective and the #3 is too strong (it was in my case, it burned my cheeks!) use a scrub or the salicylic acid face/body bar once daily.

If the product stops tingling you need to use the scrub to get rid of all the dead skin that is keeping the product from penetrating.

This product is really effective if you keep the regimen up.
